Medical Imaging and Signal Processing (MEDISIP)

Medisip is a research group of the department of Electronics and Information systems (ELIS) of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA) at the Ghent University (UGent). Our research topics can be subdivided in four major branches, all in the field of medical image and signal processing: Neuroscience, Small Animal Imaging (Infinity), Software and Hardware lab.

Our group is a part of the Institute of Biomedical Technology (IBiTech) and is involved in several projects supported by iMinds, an independent research institute founded by the Flemish government. Medisip is also a member of HyCT (dr. E. Van Steenkiste), a valorization consortium from Ghent University. This consortium constantly monitors the valorization potential of our research. As a result, our research group has filed several patents over the past years.

In January 2016, Molecubes, a spin-off of Medisip and iMinds, was launched. Molecubes focusses on offering a more easy and flexible approach to in vivo scanning of lab animals in the life science research industry. Building world’s smallest preclinical imaging cubes, allowing you to combine SPECT, PET and CT imaging, Molecubes offers a solution that fits into almost any lab space. As such, state-of-the-art imaging technology is brought closer to biologists and researchers.
